October 29, 2008 Louis Alpert, 87, a life resident of Syracuse, died Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Menorah Park. Mr. Alpert was the owner of the Alpert Construction Company for 40 years until his retirement in 1994. He was one of the original members of Temple Beth El, a member of Congregation Beth Sholom - Chevra Shas, a veteran of WWII having served in the Philippines and the Pacific, and a member of Onondaga Post 131 of the Jewish War Veterans. Survived by his wife of 43 years, Sally Alpert; sons, Joseph Alpert, Benjamin (Maria) Alpert and Dr. Samuel (Dr. Tracy) Alpert; brother, Herbert Alpert; and six grandchildren, Victoria, Rachel, Danielle, Gabriel, Nathan, and Zachary Alpert. Services will be conducted on Friday, October 31, 2008, 11 a.m. at the Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette St. Friends may visit with the family, Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be in Beth El Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Syracuse Jewish Community Center. Birnbaum Funeral Service Inc.
