Mr. Shapiro, Carpenter, Dies

Benjamin Shapiro, 84, of 4101 E. Genesee St. died yesterday morning at Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A resident of the Syracuse area more than 65 years, Mr. Shapiro had been a contractor. He was one of the oldest living members of the Carpenters Union Local 12. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. B. Cyril Luke of DeWitt; a sister, Mrs. Anna Hoffman; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, Rabbi Alexander Morgenstern officiating. Burial will be in Beth El Cemetery. Friends may call 10 to 11 a. m. today at the funeral home, 1909 E. Fayette St Contributions may be made to the Jewish Home of Central New York.
