Helene Faye Shrier
June 16, 2009 Helene Faye Shrier, 60, of Syracuse, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 16 while in Ontario, Canada. Helene was a graduate of Syracuse University earning Masters in Library Science and Linguistics. She worked as a medical librarinian for St. Josephs Hospital until her retirement in 2003. Helene was a member of Congregation Beth Sholom- Chevra Shas, the Congregation\'s Sisterhood, NaAmat, and active in the Syracuse Jewish Choris. Miss Shrier was an accomplished author of several poetry books. She was predeceased by her father, Julius Shrier in 1991 and her mother, Esther Shrier in 2001. Survived by her brother, Dr. David (Helena) Shrier; sister, Holly (Todd) Davis; and nieces, Ilana, Julia, Sarina, and Lilah Shrier, Jennifer and Lauren Zuccarelli. Services will be conducted at noon on Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette Street. Friends may visit with the family, at the chapel, on Friday, 11 a.m. to noon. Burial will be in Beth El Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the ORA Academy, 600 East Ave., Rochester, NY 14607 or Congregation Beth Sholom- Chevra Shas, Box 271, DeWitt, NY 13214.
