Rose Sadowsky November 15, 2011 Rose Sadowsky, nee Stark, was born in Antwerp, Belgium in 1922, and immigrated with her parents to Cleveland, OH 1923 when she was a year old. Rose and her father moved to Syracuse, NY following the death of her mother. In Syracuse, she worked at her fathers bakery until her marriage to Seymour Sadowsky in 1950. In 1964, Rose went to work as a teacher for the Adult Basic Education program at Washington Irving School and retired after 20 years of teaching. She was also active in Hadassah and Temple Beth El Sisterhood. Rose had a great interest in arts and crafts, and was praised for her intricate embroidery work and beautiful china painting. She was a prolific reader, gardener and a lover of nature, passing these interests to her children. Rose was a loving wife to her late husband, Seymour, for 57 years, and was a devoted mother to her children, Roberta (Richard) Levin, Arlene (Silvio) Litovsky, and Donald (Judith Todes), as well as a doting grandmother to Celia and Abby Litovsky and Michael and Joel Sadowsky. She also leaves a brother, Sidney (Linda) Weinstein; her brother-in-law, Bernard Gastel; sister-in-law, Ann Weinstein, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Rose will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette Street. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service at the chapel. Burial will be in Beth El Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
