Harvey Mamat, 84, a former resident of Syracuse, died Thursday, November 3, 2005, in Royal Palm Beach, FL. Mr. Mamat was the founder and president of Harvey\'s Pharmacy in Syracuse and Manlius until his retirement in 2000. He was a graduate of Buffalo University School of Pharmacy, Class of 1943; a former member of Temple Society of Concord; member and past president of Rho Pi Phi; member and past president of Onondaga County Pharmaceutical Association; veteran of World War II, serving with the 36th Infantry Division as a combat medic in France and Germany; member of Onondaga Post 131 Jewish War Veterans; and former member of the Calvary Club and Drumlins Golf Club. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Annette; son, Frank (Kathy); daughter, Terri (Hugh) Karangelen; four grandchildren: Jonathan and Steven Mamat and Kate and Mark Karangelen; a sister, Lillian Schecter. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 8, at 2 p.m. at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. at the chapel, 1909 East Fayette Street, prior to the service. Burial will be in Beth El Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Foundation at Menorah Park or Temple Beth El.
