February 12, 2007 Reuben Kassel, 87, a life resident of Syracuse until he moved to Florida in 1998, died Monday, February 12, 2007, in West Palm Beach. Mr. Kassel was an Army veteran of World War II, serving at Pearl Harbor during the initial attack by the Japanese on December 7, 1941. He was the owner of Kassel\'s Florist on Harrison Street until his retirement in 1980. Reuben was a member of the Jewish War Veterans Onondaga Post 131 and a former member of Temple Society of Concord, Syracuse. Reuben is survived by a son, Barry (Sheila) Kassel; a daughter, Rana (Rich Thomasy) Kassel; and three grandchildren, Hannah Thomasy, and Josh and Jessica Kassel. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2007, at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 East Fayette St. Friends may call at the chapel on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. His burial will be in Beth El Cemetery.
