Joseph M. Ashkin, 55, of 5100 Highbridge St, Fayetteville died December 14 in St. Josephs Hospital. He was a former partner in the Salina Shoe Store for 18 years. He was a member of Nottingham Knolls Country Club, the South Side Businessmens Assn., the Empire State Footwear Assn. and Temple Beth El. He received the Purple Heart in World War II, serving in the Pacific for three years. He was a member of Onondaga Post 131, Jewish War Veterans. Mr. Ashkin is survived by his wife, Doris; two sons, Gary and Alan, both of Fayetteville; his mother, Anna; a brother, Sidney, of Fayetteville; two sisters, Mrs. Marion Binder of the Bronx and Mrs. Mollie Maloney. Services were held December 17 at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel. Rabbi Elliot Friedman and Cantor Simon Bergman officiated. Burial was in Beth El Cemetery.
