Gertrude Fishman, 93, died early Saturday morning at Menorah Park. Gertrude was born in Poland on December 12, 1922 to David and Esther Wajnblum. She was a survivor of the Holocaust, and had been a resident of Syracuse for more than 65 years.
Gertrude was an active member of Temple Beth El, the sisterhood of the Temple, and Na\\'amat. Her family will always remember the wonderful holiday meals that she prepared with love. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than to be with her family…they were everything to her. She always saw the best in people, never complained and always greeted everyone with a beautiful smile.
She was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Scott Bryan Dubnoff; and her sisters, Nadzia and Hela.
Her family includes her husband, Max of over 70 years; their children, Estelle (Ira) Dubnoff and Steven (Marybeth) Fishman; grandchildren, Neil (Judy Goldfarb) Dubnoff, Tracy (Neil) Seligman, Haley (Scott Ulberg) Dubnoff, Rachel Fishman and Hannah Fishman; and great-grandchildren, Samantha, Eliana, Gabriella and Zachary.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. sharp on Monday, May 23 at Sisskind Funeral Chapel, 3175 E. Genesee Street. Burial will be in Beth El Cemetery. Shiva will be observed on Monday, May 23 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Estelle and Ira\\'s home.
